The Archive
Preserving a Historic Video Archive
European Gymnastics held more than 40 years of recorded material on ageing physical media. The organisation wanted to preserve this content as part of its historical legacy, while bringing footage that had previously been difficult to access back into use. The aim was to create a collection that could support internal reference, historical documentation, wider media use and ultimately make more of its archive accessible to gymnastics fans.

Archive Digitisation
CJP Broadcast managed the archive from initial assessment through to digitisation and archival conversion, using controlled workflows to preserve the recordings and create a centralised digital collection for long-term access.
Archive Assessment
CJP began by assessing the collection to establish the formats and requirements for transfer before digitisation commenced.
Controlled Ingest
Footage was carefully transferred from ageing physical media using M2000 and VHS machines alongside a Sony PDW-U1, with controlled ingest workflows used throughout the digitisation process.
Archival Conversion
Each recording was transcoded to Matroska FFV1, providing a format for long-term archival storage and helping safeguard the material beyond its original physical media.
Centralised Access
The completed collection provides European Gymnastics with a centralised digital archive supporting internal reference, historical documentation and wider media use, while making decades of gymnastics footage easier to access.
