CJP Implements Multi-Camera TV Studio for Barnet and Southgate College
CJP Broadcast delivered a fully integrated multi-camera TV studio for Barnet and Southgate College, designed to replicate professional production environments and provide students with hands-on access to industry-standard tools and workflows. The facility supports courses in TV, film, sound, games, animation, and VFX, and forms part of the college’s wider strategy to prepare learners for creative sector careers and higher education.
The Vision
Barnet and Southgate College set out to establish a state-of-the-art creative facility that would mirror the standards and expectations of a professional studio environment. The aim was to offer students a practical, industry-relevant experience across a wide range of disciplines including broadcast, post-production, and games design – ensuring they leave college ready to progress into work or further study. The new studio was also envisioned as a central hub for collaboration, creativity, and community engagement.
The Challenge
Barnet and Southgate College required a studio that could deliver high production standards while remaining practical and flexible for day-to-day teaching. The facility needed to support a wide range of media-focused courses, but also be accessible to students and staff with varying levels of technical experience. Managing the integration of broadcast-level systems into a teaching environment, without overcomplicating operation or limiting future curriculum growth, was a key part of CJP’s role.

Professional Studio Camera System
CJP installed a multi-camera setup using Blackmagic Design studio cameras with cinematic lenses from Fujinon and DZOFilm, supported by Libec tripods and full studio controls. The configuration mirrors professional environments and supports high-quality capture for a variety of projects.
Production Control and Live Switching
The control room features production and control hardware from Blackmagic Design, including switching, recording, conversion, and sync systems. NEC and Dell displays were used throughout the setup to support accurate monitoring and live production workflows.
Audio and Communication Infrastructure
Audio systems were built using equipment from Allen & Heath and Sennheiser, supporting both live mixing and wireless monitoring. PreSonus and Fostex monitoring tools were also integrated to support accurate audio referencing during and after production. Communication between crew and control was delivered via Hollyland intercoms and Tecpro headsets, reflecting real-world studio operations.
Display, Prompting and Studio Tools
Prompting systems from Portaprompt and display screens from NEC and B-Tech give students the tools to rehearse scripts, follow live direction, and build confidence in front of the camera. These elements are essential for developing on-screen communication and preparing for real-world studio roles.
Post-Production Workflow Integration
CJP designed the workflow to support full production cycles, giving students the ability to take a project from initial shoot through to final delivery. With audio monitoring from PreSonus and Fostex, fast SSD storage from Samsung, and integrated signal tools from Blackmagic Design, the setup helps develop practical skills across editing, review, and finishing stages.
